NEUHAUS LIGHTING

I am often asked how I got into the business of Lighting/Event Design and my answer is usually that I had a beer with the right guy. That is, of course, a joke; but in all seriousness, I started doing lighting design in high school. I was the guy who owned a sound system, as I’m sure every high school has one, and no sooner had I taken care of the theater’s audio needs, than they asked me to help out with the lighting. The rest, as they say, is history.

In 1998, I moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University and was hired the first week of school to be one of the LDs for Massey Auditorium. After working for the university for two years, I was hired by Bradfield Stage Lighting, one of our lighting suppliers. I was with Bradfield for five years before I accepted a position with Big and Rich, the Country Duo I have been touring with for the last three years.

Hopefully, this next year will allow me to grow as a designer. Lighting is a great business to be in and I wake up every day feeling blessed that I have this job. Who knows where it will take me or who I will get to work with…
